    This recruitment is being conducted to fill one (1) vacancy and will establish an eligibility list which may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur during the active status of the eligibility list.
    PLEASE NOTE: An 8% salary increase is currently pending Board of Directors Approval.

    GU 177 ($40.37 - 49.19 Hourly)FLSA: Non-ExemptProbationary Period: 12 monthsUnder direct supervision, while incumbents gain proficiency and attain the skills necessary to function at the next higher level while independently providing semi-skilled in in facilities, plumbing, masonry, building, painting, landscape, electrical, and maintenance work. Facilities Technician will also troubleshoot, diagnoses, maintain and repair a wide variety of large, complex heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration systems coordinate and inspect the work of contractors; and performs related duties as assigned.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
    A Facilities Technician I performs entry-level work in the semi-skilled and skilled maintenance trades while under the direction of a journey-level Facilities Technician. Incumbents must gain proficiency and attain the skills necessary to function at the next higher level while independently providing semi-skilled facilities, plumbing, masonry, fabrication, painting, maintenance work, and HVAC equipment systems. Duties and responsibilities are carried out independently within a framework of established policies, procedures, repair, and installation techniques.

    Employees in this class typically report to the Facilities Program Supervisor.
    Facilities Technician II is the skilled journey-level class in this class series. Incumbents perform journey-level duties in the area of installation, maintenance and repair of water, recycled water, plumbing masonry, building, paining, electrical systems, maintenance work, HVAC equipment systems and related equipment. All incumbents are qualified to perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of the Agency's equipment and facilities. Facilities Technician III requires a higher level of knowledge, experience and certification in the preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of the Agency's equipment, HVAC Systems, and facilities. Incumbents may also provide work guidance to lower-level staff. Assignments vary, and some jobs may require a technician with more specialized knowledge.Employees in this class typically report to the Facilities Program Supervisor and may provide technical direction to lower-level technicians.

    QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:
    TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Facilities Technician I - Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and at least one year of experience in semi-skilled maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience in a public agency is preferred. A Facilities Technician I may be considered for advancement to Facilities Technician II after demonstrating proficiency to perform the full range of duties of the latter class, obtaining the specified licenses, certificates and special requirements or a department approved alternative. Typically, a Facilities Technician I is expected to be capable of meeting the proficiency criteria within a 12 - 24-month period, depending on an individual's prior experience and progression in performing the full range of Facilities Technician II duties as described in the established performance criteria.Facilities Technician II/III - Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and three years of experience in facilities; plumbing, masonry, building, painting, electrical, maintenance work, complex heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems maintenance and repair experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.A Facilities Technician II may be considered for advancement to Facilities Technician III after demonstrating proficiency to perform the full range of duties of the latter class; obtaining the specified licenses, certificates, and special requirements of the Facilities Technician II class as described in the established performance criteria.LICENSES; CERTIFICATES; SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:A valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Agency's vehicle insurance program.
