CalWest's client school in the Greater Los Angeles Area is seeking
a Resource Specialist Teacher for an immediate opening.
CalWest Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree and/or other educational requirements
listed on the job description
- Requisite skills commensurate with the position
- A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school,
or a willingness to relocate
- Authorization to live and work in the United States
Client School Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years teaching experience highly desirable
- Passion for educational equity and enthusiasm for the school
mission, model, and design elements
- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and
abilities, including English learners and students with
disabilities
- Experience with backwards planning preferred
- Commitment to high expectations and the ongoing use of
assessments to drive differentiated instruction and
support
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter with a strong drive to achieve
- Spanish fluency highly desirable
- Ability to effectively give, receive, and implement
constructive feedback towards continuous improvement
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate
effectively
- Valid California mild to moderate special education teaching
credential with EL authorization.
Responsibilities
- Prepare student education plans in consultation with parents
and IEP team members.
- Design instruction, both individual and small group, that
parallels the general education curriculum and supports students in
relation to the services and goals outlined in IEPs, as well as
supports students towards mastery of grade level standards, as
appropriate.
- Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of
IEPs, as appropriate.
- Assess students with disabilities or suspected
disabilities.
- Maintain appropriate student data and other records, and submit
reports as required.
- Attend and be prepared for weekly special education team
meetings.
- Support general education teachers in knowing and providing
appropriate access and supports to students with disabilities in
general education classrooms/settings.
- Attend IEP meetings and parent-teacher conferences, as
appropriate.
- Utilize school-developed planning templates to develop and
refine curriculum maps, culminating projects, rubrics, units, and
lessons that meet the requirements of Common Core Standards, as
appropriate.
- Create a structured, positive classroom culture that is
conducive to learning and promotes a sense of belonging for all
students.
- Establish positive, caring relationships with students and
school stakeholders.
- Gather and use data to tailor instruction to meet individual
student academic and social needs with a goal of grade level
performance.
- Participate in professional learning activities, including
curriculum refinement protocols, grade level meetings, department
meetings, and regular 1:1 coaching as needed.
- Demonstrate high levels of professionalism including meeting
deadlines, maintaining positive, timely and effective communication
with supervisors, colleagues, families, and students.
- Collaborate effectively with grade level and department teams
and other special education/resource and English language
development teachers to ensure rigor, alignment, and equity of
access.
Salary Range
$55,407 - $94,099
