Full TimeDescriptionThe Department for the Study of Religion at San
Diego State University invites applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor position in Judaism with a focus on
Sustainability. We seek candidates who specialize in the
intersections of religion and environmental justice, feminist
ecologies, ecologies of care, climate change, biocultural
diversity, conservation, land use, or another subfield of critical
sustainability studies, to begin Fall 2025. Proficiency in
pertinent language/s is expected. The successful candidate will
possess a clear research agenda evidenced by a history of or
potential for significant scholarly contribution and public
engagements in relevant venues. They will also be able to teach two
particular courses-"Judaism" and "Nature, Spirituality,
Ecology"-and develop other classes related to the Study of
Religion. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is
preferred. Applicants must hold a PhD in the Study of Religion or a
related field by the time of appointment.The minimum salary for
this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule for
Assistant Professors and may be revised based on contract
collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from
$85k-$89k. Salary placement will be based on the selected
candidate's qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than
the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances. San

are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or
commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals

demonstrated commitment to extending knowledge of opportunities and
challenges in achieving artistic/scholarly success to members of an
underrepresented group, (f) have experience in or have demonstrated
commitment to research that engages underrepresented communities,
(g) have expertise or demonstrated commitment to developing
expertise in cross-cultural communication and collaboration, and/or
(h) have research interests that contribute to diversity and equal
opportunity in higher education. Please indicate in a separate
